National Preparedness Month: Children in Public Health Emergencies

Date: Wednesday, September 19, 2018
Time: 1:00pm (Eastern Time)

Overview

Children have unique physical, developmental, and mental health needs in all types of emergencies and disasters that require specific attention in preparedness, response, and recovery efforts. For the 2018 National Preparedness Month, Jessica Franks, Robyn Cree, and Cindy Hinton discussed preparedness and response for children affected by natural disasters (including hurricanes), infectious disease outbreaks, and other emergencies. This included information about children with special healthcare needs. Please join CDC’s EPIC Team online to explore this topic, discuss examples, and learn where to find more information.

Webinar participants and viewers will accomplish the following:

  • Describe CDC’s role in the topic covered during the presentation.
  • Describe the topic’s implications for respective constituents.
  • Discuss concerns and issues related to preparedness for and response to urgent public health threats.
  • Identify reliable information resources for the topic.
  • Describe how to promote health improvement, wellness, and disease prevention.
